i should note on chromium based browsers, the video plays with sound but it stays stuck on the first frame. On firefox it buffers indefinitely

Could be a format issue, can you send a screenshot of your transcoding settings?

Can you install ffprobe, then run ffprobe -show_streams <video path>?

The video is HEVC, so it should be getting transcoded. The fact that Chrome can view it but freezes suggests there's something weird about the original video itself that may have caused transcoding to fail. This part is unusual:
color_space=unknown color_transfer=unknown color_primaries=unknown

its a blackvue dashcam so it could be an oddity with that specific brand the immich app played it fine on android 15

would it be possible to provide a sample file?

sure how long should the file be approximately? im trying to shorten it as much as possible using lossless trimming ofc the entire file is like ~430MB and its one minute long

Try to share the original without trimming to make sure there are no changes in metadata etc. A gdrive link or similar would work

wait hold on i pulled that file from immich's library i dont think i have the actual original that one got deleted after i uploaded it to immich

But this file is HEVC right? Immich wouldn't make an HEVC transcode unless you changed the target codec It's probably the original, just named in that cryptic way

yea thats prob the case yes thats the same file from the ffprobe output Did the file yield anything interesting?
