High end server
Hi all. I have gotten my hands on a modern server build with high-specs.
I am attempting to make a server for me and my friends which completely utilizes all of the features it has, and if anyone would like to join when finished, you are more than welcome to do so.
My issue is regarding the capability of the multi-threaded(ness) of DH.
I have this, available to me:
Threadripper PRO 7995WX
256 GB ECC RDIM DDR5 (at 5600MT/s)
Samsung 990 4TB (was thinking of using this for OS, and server files)
4x4TB of RAID drives (server clones)
RTX 4070

jesus that is some good hardware
a rtx 4070 for a server?
Yes but that is because i upgraded myself to a 7900xtx
I do not need 4070, so might aswell use it 😛
I am wondering, because does DH scale well with threads?
or is there a cap
i dont think there is
for LOD generation
that is a 10k usd CPU
what the heck
you have this or do you rent it?
i have it physically
like right nexto me
ok great, is there a graph i can use to see generation rates/core count or has it not been pushed this much yet?
highest is 16 cores there
imagine buying a 10k usd server CPU, then running windows on it

so from what i can tell it does scale neatly with more cores
yea no way lol too many problems
yes. unsure if it still holds up at 96 cores though
would be awesome if you could add to the benchmark

i will definitely do so once i set it up for sure
🔥
You will for sure want to have
C2ME
and ScalableLux
installed alongside DH
with so many threads
Remember though that C2ME has its own thread config, so bumping only DH CPU load preset might be bottlenecked by the C2ME config after some point
And I think this point is near 16 threadsright
i see, noted
I am a bit of a standstill now then
@Puhpine (GMT +1) or @Miki_P98 , Is normal that DH throws error with so many cores assigned?
I have a software that allows (more or less) dedicated cores to applications
well actually i just use
taskset
but regardlessWhat's the error?
Hey, sorry for not replying.
I got it running and i've adjusted to some issues i found on the way, such as scaling. DH actually didn't have much trouble scaling! however around 4-6 cores aren't being used but that is just because they are efficiency cores i think.
Currently, I have 16'384 LOD distance and this gets generated in around 8-10 minutes
16384 is 4 by 4096
No lag
how much ram?
Not many for CPUs but i allocate JVM 128GB, is good RAM too ddr5 6000MT/s xD
holy moly
holy moley
