x is the dist between dipole and wire

lets first get ur concept clear in dipoles till then ill examine the ques lemme send a link

Tbf, even my concept isn't clear regarding dipoles. They're a weird thing.

I think I'll go through Griffiths one more time.

idk dipole is easy to me for the first part ill send a derivation tht will help u understand better

damn u got seperate books for diff topics 💀 i just refer to rahul sardana

Ye. But Griffiths is honestly over the top. I like the hardcore maths explanations because they make a lot of sense to me. The intuition doesn't easily get across

for first que look at the derivation uderstand tht first

and then try to apply it

AugustineOP2w ago
i know this but idk what to do afterwards electric field will be diff on the 2 charges right
Sephrina
Sephrina2w ago
no since its dipole just directly apply the formula in this derivation wait lemme send you how i did see even if not given we usually take x >> 2a
Augustine
AugustineOP2w ago
accha
Sephrina
Sephrina2w ago
because it is unifromly charged tht one u can also think of
Augustine
AugustineOP2w ago
wait even if 2a is not <<x then b part would hv been same ?
Sephrina
Sephrina2w ago
how show me the calc let me try that part too
Augustine
AugustineOP2w ago
no i was just wondering 💀
Sephrina
Sephrina2w ago
na naa physics with intutiions is bad always do a rough calc
Augustine
AugustineOP2w ago
cuz potential energy state function hai and electic field conservative hai

Sephrina2w ago
vo sab ik but use formula
Augustine
AugustineOP2w ago
yeah ig 😭
Sephrina
Sephrina2w ago
see the formula w = -pe(costheta2 - costheta1 ) u can technically use tht and put value of E in it

@Augustine look from w part up was me doing some calc on things

ohkk thanks also i just realized we derived work from integral of torque*d(theta) and torque will vary if electric field is non uniform so if 2a is comparable to x then we cant do it this way right

You use griffiths holy aura In Dipoles we always use x>>>>>a Or else both formula for equator and axial will become lengthy

Sahi bol rhin h seph go for ncert only 😂 jb tk boards k liye 20 baar ratte nhin maar liyen then for both electric and magnetic dipole tbtk dimag m kch khaas nhin fit hua tha...abhi bhi bhula jaten h torque of a dipole TvT
