strange rendering

i dont know exactly what to describe: using chunky, 10000 by 10000 area complete, but distant horizons isnt creating the lods i know chunky isn't optimal for loading chunkys since it can cause glitches like this, but without it it was just impossible to generate those chunks i wanna know if i leave my pc afk these chunks will be rendered or if there are any config or process that can accelerate that, thank you

Using Chunky to pregenerate for DH is not recommended for several reasons. The first one is the swiss cheese that might show up when using chunky while DH is installed. The second reason is that it's pointless, as DH has a build in pregenerator that is better integrated than chunky: - It saves space by only storing LODs, not normal chunks - It is faster to use DH's pregenerator to generate the LODs than first using chunky to generate the normal chunks, and then using DH to convert the normal chunks to LODs - It is part of DH, and therefore always/only called when DH needs it - Chunky calculates it's radius in blocks, confusing the user if they are not aware of this Distant Horizons' built-in LOD pregenerator is enabled by default, and can be sped up or slowed down by changing the Cpu Load in DH's settings, or disabled by turning off Distant Generation. If you want to pregenerate both LODs and normal chunks, set the Distance Generator Mode to Internal Server under Advanced, World Generator. This will of course take up quite a lot more storage space. Make sure you have C2ME installed if you want to use Internal Server, as the generation speed will be crap if you don't. Note, this also applied to other similar pregeneration mods.

i know that but i did some tests and in my pc pre loading chunks then converting to lods was faster i deleted my lods and removed chunky though will test it

Yeah, if you generate with chunky and have DH, you'll have to delete the DH LOD file after chunky is done When running DH, you can have chunky installed still, just don't run it while DH is running But you shouldn't have DH installed when chunky is running... Like I said above you'll just have to delete any LODs anyway that generate. And I've found it slows Chunky down if you have DH while running it Even if DH is disabled, it still for some reason slows it down and creates some of the LOD (that'll you'll just have to delete later)

yeah didnt know that but dh lod building is preeeety slow forgot to mention im using big globe, maybe the 5000 world height has smt to do wit it lol

Stephen5311•2w ago
Big globe is the 2nd slowest terrain mod 2048 JJThunder took me 1-2 weeks I think with DH on R9 7950X3D

felipenisOP•2w ago
still 3 times faster then jjthunder bruh

lol I wanted to do Big Globe but stopped because of the sky island biome The ice glaciers are 🔥

u can remove em with datapacks

Maybe it was, and no one told me Becaues I did talk to the dev And he was like "I like the sky island biome"

i kind of like em but the obelisks and lost cities are too much

I'm like okay, but would be nice to have disable certain biomes option (same for all biome mods)

i tried epic terrain as well but it just looked empty and plain like i got 5000 by 5000 oak forest with no mountains and then 3000 blocks of ocean for more oak forest

Stephen5311•2w ago
The 2048 JJThunder seems small its so large-scale terrain

you did up the cpu load yeah?

felipenisOP•2w ago
max so the dh lods were fine the problem really was the shape circle so i did the chunky radius half of the square inscribed in a circle side so it wouldnt need to generate any new chunks in square shape
felipenis
felipenisOP•2w ago
it worked almost flawless

felipenisOP•2w ago
so ill just try and generate a 10000 block radius in square shape

@Ramelstag lol now u know why

TBH, I like the sky islands for gameplay (if pretty small biome area wise and not that common). It should be a rare but rewarding find Like if there was 1-3 sky islands per 1/2 maybe 1/2.5 ocean biomes, that'd be a bit better (with how BIG they are) Or 2-5 (big groups) as it currently is, make the ocean bigger so the islands are not right against the beaches to the mainland and 1/4 maybe 1/5 oceans chance. Like a mushroom biome There's many different combos you can do to balance it/make it look better with large render distances Does he have a Discord? Could you send me an invite in DM? I want to suggest this
