help

I think I might have changed the virtual texture settings, and ever since then, even when I use textures from Dash's Content Browser, the material tool menu doesn't show up in the toolbox. Also, the blend material shown in the tutorial video doesn't appear at all, so I have no idea how to fix this. I'm not even sure if this is a bug or not.

When I use textures downloaded from Polyhaven through the Content Browser, the 'Edit Material' option appears, but the colors look strange. However, when I download them into the Unreal content folder and create a material from them, the material doesn't show up at all.

Hey hey @saminee 🙂 Edit material and Blend material is only supported for Poly Haven (through Dash CB) or Megascans assets from the FAB tab or the Quixel tab in Dash CB. Did you use appropiate material? 🤔 regarding 2nd message about polyhaven, can you show me in a video? and please try and mess with settings in material edit and also reset it (top menu button in material edit)

First of all, thank you for your reply! I might be a bit slow because I'm using a translator. For now, I downloaded and used the assets directly from the Content Browser in Dash and from Bridge.

I attached a GIF file

Of course! No worries. Hmm yes if you usean material from Quixel tab (those are the ones from Bridge plugin) you should get Material Edit and Blend material as seen in my video below. Can you try a similar video as I did? And having the UE output log open so I can see if there are any errors. Preferably not a GIF but an actual video. If you can't send it here due to size, let me know and I can give you a link to upload it to

and regarding poly haven, can you try to reset the properties as in my video and also try a few other materials?

Thank you! I checked the output log and saw this error. It seems like this error is the issue. Do you know if there's a way to fix it? Also, since there’s a size issue, could you provide a link where I can upload the video?

What virtual texture changes did you do? Can you check project settings? most often "enable virtual texture on texture import" is best to have OFF

I have that option turned off, and I'm still encountering the same issue with the error in the output log. Is it possible that one of the other virtual texture settings might be causing the problem?

@Roger_ any ideas here? 🤔

oh, I think I was lucky and somehow managed to fix it. The error I mentioned earlier was caused because the texture wasn't set as a virtual texture when downloaded. I manually changed it to a virtual texture in the polygonflow folder, and that solved the issue. However, I'm still not sure what to do about the material blend part

hmm, good that it is solved, but we don't support virtual textures, so oftenly they look really bad if you place one of those from the Dash CB what do you mean exactly is the issue with blend?

"It's a slightly different issue, but when I download objects from Poly Haven or create my own 3D models and generate textures in Substance Painter, there are often multiple UDIM tiles. If I don't use virtual textures, Unreal can't read those textures properly. So, would it be okay to disable virtual texture only for the textures used with Dash, while keeping it enabled for the others? In the case of material blending, the tutorial video showed that after downloading multiple materials and dropping them onto the terrain, the material blend menu appeared. But in my case, maybe because the version is different, that menu doesn’t show up, so I’m not sure where or how to do it

Oh no, that was my mistake… Since I’m not from an English-speaking country, I’ve honestly had a bit of a hard time learning just from the tutorials. But now I understand how it works. I’m sorry for bothering you with this, and it seems like the issue is resolved now. Thank you so much for your help!

Yee I guess so! aah glad it works now!
