What do you mean by "rendering the same way as normal lighting"?
the lighting in the distant horizons chunks is darker than the chunks closer to me
What shader are you using?
Does it happen without the shader?
If no, it is the shader that controls the lighting on both vanilla and DH chunks
Although it can also be an Iris issue

You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are usually located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
