Mudrunner opens to tutorial and than suddenly closes
Once i open the game, it asks me to accept EULA to play and than says welcome to mudrunner. Once i click ok on the tutorial the game crashes.

how much space would you say they take?
ive seen multiple posts saying usind d3dx9 works for linux and steam deck users
but have no clue how to do it for mac
do i use winecfg?

For any future players, you have to:
1. Download mudrunner
2. Download the latest wine crossover through the wine manager menu
3. Click on settings for mudrunner
4. Choose your wine crossover for crossover/wine version
5. Turn on "Auto install/Update DXVK on prefix"
6. Download cabextract and zenity using homebrew to get winetricks to open.
7. Open winetricks
8. Click open winetricks gui
9. close the error message which pops up twice
10. Choose "Select the default wineprefix" and click ok
11. Choose "Install a windows DLL or component" and click ok
12. Scroll and find "d3dx9_43" and select it than click ok
13. Close winetricks
14. The game should work

one thing to note, if you have the winetricks dependencies (i think only cabextract is needed for this), heroic should download the d3dx9_43 package automatically
you can skip the zenity dependency if you use the search input instead of

any clue if this works on intel macs? i tested it and it keeps saying cabextract not installed though i have it and even if install d3dx9_43 it doesnt come into the wine config

I tested the game on an intel mac and it worked for me, I had cabextract installed with homebrew and heroic autoinstalled the d3dx9_43 package, using wine-crossover

share the output of running
brew install cabextract, until you get the d3dx9_43 package installed anything else will fail
I see you are on MacOS 11, heroic doesn't really support that old version of macOS (I think it needs at least version 12)

when i try to update it also says its up to date
so cabextract is fine

to clarify, heroic is not the one trying to access cabextract, it's winetricks, heroic doesn't use cabextract for anything, maybe try installing winetricks with homebrew too https://formulae.brew.sh/formula/winetricks

that's unrelated to that change, it's just a coincidence that it's happening at the same time
the issue is related to connection problems (not that your connection is wrong, more like issues connecting to epic's servers to fetch the game's metadata)
that error goes away alone with time, try again later, I don't really know how
much later is, but it gets fixed by itselfoptimistic-goldOP•2mo ago
