Hosting Multiple Servers off a single PC?
In short...
I already have my port-forwarding rules for my server(s) set-up however I have also noticed you can set for a pack to run off a set IP in the server.properties file?
Can this essentially allow for multiple servers to run off the same port-forwarding rule as long as they have different IPs set in their server.properties files?
Also not essential buuut... any recommended plugins
Specs and Playercount:
Peak Playercount: 15 - 20
CPU: i5 12600K (currently rarely goes over 15% usage running a 400mods 1.20.1 forge server)
RAM: 32GB (10GBs currently in use - 2x16 DDR4 3200 )
Storage: 1x 4TB PCIE5.0 x4 SSD (planned to expand out Internally with more SSDs and to 10 bay Drive racks per each PC I host)
GPU: (running off the iGPU since its just for server hosting)
Network: Gigabit Full Fibre (TalkTalk UK) - connecting PCs through Netgear G305 and G308 Gigabit switches - even with my server PC running I can still get Gigabit speeds on my main PC so doubt thatll be a bottleneck...

Home hosting?
public or private server
controlled by whitelist in the server rules... anyone whitelisted can join but noone else...
i should've specified more
can anyone that joins X server get whitelisted (public ish)
or friends only whitelist (private)
private ig then...
the method you do it is the same as port forwarding but
change the game port inside the server.properties file by 1 so 25566 instead of 25565
then make the port forward rule for that, and let players connect with ip:port
the different ips arent possible as most isp's provide 1 usable ip and not multiple
tl;dr
right idea, wrong target
different ports instead of ips
would a different server IP per each server not simply work or would changing the port first simply be lighter on my network before I open more IPs for servers (or other stufs)?
you cant just open new ip's 😅
doesnt work like that unless you are on a linux os. dont think windows can do that
but even if you could, its not a standard plan isp's can provide. you cant just call them and ask for more ips on a residental plan
the ports do work as thats how nearly everything works, Ports. they open different ports to run their systems and your pc is fine with that
lemme rephrase...
I already have the port-forwarding rule setup on my Windows Server PC and server.properties allows you to set an IP the server will try host itself on...?
Couldn't ya set multiple servers going thru that 1 portforward rule from the Windows Server Host as long as they used different IPs?
Ah, in that case Yes. as long as you have access to X ip yes. I dont see why not
whos ur server host
wym?
nvm im dumb lol
currently I host off the above stufs from the 1st msg#
you said it was home hosted
so do you have more then 1 ip you can use?
think i can set multiple reservations on my router (from Talktalk - its an Eero Pro6)
not sure tho how many IPs I actually have to use tho ngl...
good luck, its far easier for ports to be open then more ips to use 😅
FYI you can use something like velocity to only need one port forward
