I'm looking at the Thursday Cadet and Presidents, as they're in my price range and I like my rough captains. Do you think these will work dressed up a bit? Not formal occasions but office/date? I am a software engineer and therapist in training.

If you hunt around you might be able to find a red wing iron ranger or beckman in your budget
Berkeley Supply has Red Wing seconds occasionally for that price range. Helm is having a sale with some in your price range, but I didn't know much about their quality other than they are Blake stitched
Also Todd Snyder during one of their 30-40% sales can get you Red Wing boots at that price.
The only thing to be aware of is with the seconds is they punch a hole in the tongue, but when your buying seconds expect things like that
Red Wings are sweet, but they're a little rugged for this use case, no? I always thought of them as a casual jean boot. I have some Blacksmiths in Briar.
Actually, I just checked out the Beckman, that looks like it work - it's less of a knobby toe than the Blacksmith. I do live in Minnesota so I bet there's plenty of people selling some. Thanks
