Black screen on boot after Bazzite HTPC installation with Intel Arc A580
I'm installing Bazzite for the first time on my machine, which is configured as a Home Theatre PC (HTPC) with Intel Arc A580 graphics. I used an image specifically for HTPC with Intel Arc and enabled Steam Gaming mode during setup.
I followed the installation instructions, ensuring CSM was disabled and Secure Boot was disabled. The installation process seemed to complete, but it hung on the message "Update complete, launching Steam...".
If I power cycle the machine, it boots to a blank screen. I can access the terminal and switch to desktop mode using
steamos-session-select desktop
. However, from desktop mode, I am unable to start Steam.
I have updated the Bazzite image, which upgraded me from Bazzite 41 to 42, but the issue persists. Running the command ujust-fix-reset-steam
also did not resolve the problem.
Are there any tips or ideas on how to troubleshoot or fix this issue?2 Replies
I've switched to the testing branch and have the same issues, I switched back to stable. I ran
ujust-fix-reset-steam
and am seeing some errors, which I'll attach below. The terminal will just continously run outputting these errors consistently.

From the installation guide, Intel Arc GPUs may work with minor caveats
, but its not clear what those caveats are... I wonder if this is related?
I've rolled back to a couple of different versions, 42 and 41, with no success.I just built my own HTPC with a b580, I had the same exact issue. What fixed it for me was going into the bios and swapping the boot order with two identically named boots, as well as enabling 4g decoding and reBAR support. I don't think those last two were relevant but hey computers feel like sorcery more than mechanics sometimes. Might be a month late but hey figured Id say something
