I over complicated this , i thought cuz of CIS there will be some hindrence in ans , but there was none , and sometimes when i dont apply CIS it is there in ans , how to know when to apply

@Gamertug It's about what species is attacking You might've noticed that it's "KMnO4" that's reaction which because of it's compact structure, reacts from a single side only Either above the plane or below the plane All in all, forms a "syn" product or in your case precisely "cis" product So it's not always about hindrance but rather the reagents that are leading to the product Sorry that I've answered this late You might've already got your answer as well lol I hope this gives you a good insight though Added:)
