How do I safely update to a newer version of DH on a heavily modded game?

Almost a year ago I set up a new heavily modded world when I found the DH mod, now how do I update DH without breaking everything? I have tried updating with the Farbic Installer, Farbic API, Sodium, Iris, Indium and of course the DH .jar. But that just caused the game to crash after loading into the world. When deleting the newer version of DH from my folder, the game worked again. So I just went back to my back up, hoping someone knows of a fool proof way of manually updating. I also remember that the first time I installed DH, it was in combination with some sort of Iris+DH installer, which would be my first guess why the complications exist.
Solution:
The best way I guess is to go through every single DH version in the middle to make sure all the DB data gets converted to the newest format

Go 1 version higher > load the world > wait for all the LODs to load > exit the world and the game > reapeat But DB doesn't chnage every single version And even the newest version should still be able to convert even super old format to the newest if required As for Indium, if using Sodium 0.6+ doen't add Indium as it is no longer required /logs

You should send your latest.log file to provide additional useful information. Logs are usually located in the .minecraft/logs directory. On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed. After uploading the file, click on Save and send the link.

From 2.1.2-a-1.20.1 to 2.3.2-b-1.20.1 I'm gonna try that, thanks. I guess when going from one DH version to the next I will also have to update the other mods with it too? Also, the newest version for 1.20.1 of Sodium is 0.5.13. So I still need indium?

Yes. Only when you're using Sodium 0.6 and above where Indium is not required.

So I just got it all to work. Updated DH version by version and also updated iris, sodium, indium if I got an error that asked for a newer version. Thanks for the help! Already seeing improvements in performance too.

I would also like to add that I had to get the newest Fresh Animations version (1.9.2) / remove it, for it to not crash with all the updated mods. In case someone finds this later. Edit: Nevermind, updating Fresh Animations still causes crash. The only fix I found so far is to load into the world without FA and then turning it on. But other than that, works fine now.

Well, DH does not need any other mods, so if you don't need any mods that add any blocks to the game that would disappear without them. Then you can update the LOD DB with only DH and add the rest when you finish
