Corroded buttons
Received my Vinted jacket,
It’s in great shape basically unworn, the hardware is in great shape too except these closing buttons, whatever material was on there oxidized/corroded/idk
Is this salvageable? How would I go about cleaning them?
Thanks

Honestly I think that looks sick as is
patina is cool but removing the « white » is what I mean
It looks crusty af 😭

the best method depends on the metal(s) used - if you have a dry wire brush that may eliminate a lot of the corrosion
can also apply white vinegar with a q-tip or a baking soda paste (let sit and then rinse), then rub a little isopropyl alcohol
yeah not sure what metal that is tbh that's the thing
It seems like it's 2 different metals
I'll get a brush and try, maybe that can be the safest way
Could be a plated brass
looks like oxidized copper
use vinegar and salt and a qtip
or lemon juice and salt
ty
been trying that without success
Making it less dark but the crust is still like 3 dimensional and thick
It's like it's a copper button that had some sort of a filling with another metal and that's the part that rusted?
how bad of an idea would replacing them be:blushcatto:
Maybe soak in vinegar for a bit?
Wouldn't replace, they look cool
Can you find brasso where you are?
Yeah! I didn’t think of that
I’ll try ty
