Corroded buttons

Received my Vinted jacket, It’s in great shape basically unworn, the hardware is in great shape too except these closing buttons, whatever material was on there oxidized/corroded/idk Is this salvageable? How would I go about cleaning them? Thanks

the best method depends on the metal(s) used - if you have a dry wire brush that may eliminate a lot of the corrosion can also apply white vinegar with a q-tip or a baking soda paste (let sit and then rinse), then rub a little isopropyl alcohol

yeah not sure what metal that is tbh that's the thing It seems like it's 2 different metals I'll get a brush and try, maybe that can be the safest way

ty been trying that without success Making it less dark but the crust is still like 3 dimensional and thick It's like it's a copper button that had some sort of a filling with another metal and that's the part that rusted? how bad of an idea would replacing them be:blushcatto:
