Monetize vs public repo

Hey, guys, I currently have idea for website (or maybe extension) and I have it for while in progress, but now I was thinking about if I should keep the project private and try monetize from it or make it public, so I will have decent project in cv (The reason why I am asking this is because I dont I will came up with another good idea that people can would really use) Any tips what should I do and why?

I don't know if this is worth mentioning, but you can always start private, try monetizing, and then if it's not going well make it public

you also can describe project challenges and tech in your website/cv and then showcase in interviews or with other possible stakeholders, so could be closed source but you can still use it for showcasing

How would you showcase it when its still not deployed? I would like to have some link in the cv which will point to some showcase of it (photos/gif) maybe README on some public repo?

* If it's deployed, you can do both. Monetize and showcase. * If it's not deployed, idk if anyone will bother actually reading the code or trying to use it. * A third option (probably the best) is to create a landing page to communicate the value. You'll need this anyway if you wanna get users. The safest option is also the best. Create a landing page, even if just using Framer or a template. This will also help you have a clear idea of what specific problem you're solving & why people should care.

none of code shared, but still showcased: https://andrey-markin.com/projects/aggregator (images, for example, generated with v0 specifically for this showcase page, real platform had different content)

just out of curiosity, how many years of experience you have?

depend on what experience to count: total dev — 3, in next, just 1
