RatOS-v2.1.0-RC2 No boot

I have trouble upgrading from RatOS 1.0 to newest version. I downloaded the RatOS img file and verified the sha256. First installed the image on a new brand 64GB sdcard using dd: it creates two partitions and it looks fine, but it cannot boot my rpi3b. (permanent red led, no green blinking) Then i used BalenaEtcher with the same image and got the same result - I even tried three different sdcards. (including a new Sandisk as recommended) I tried to see if they would boot an rpi5 i had laying around..No cheese... I tried using rpi-imager with "custom image" a few times and got the same result finally i tried a Raspbian image with rpi-imager: and that worked perfectly. I am using a little older BalenaEthcer 1.14.3 (which I used for RatOS 1.0), as the most recent version have issue running on my Debian system.(2*fake dependency issues and a real graphical issue) a few times during this I verified that my old RatOS 1.0 sdcard still worked. Any suggestions? What route should to take: 1. try older RatOS release 2. build-RatOS-from-scratch 3. skip RatOS and build manually on a Rasbian (which I know fairly well) (all this work is due to and update that killed KlipperScreen in RatOS 1.0 - note to self: NEVER update working stuff...) šŸ™‚
