add games to steam doesnt seem to work on Windows

Whenever i try to add into it,it doesnt seem to work anymore but it used to work out on windows

Both paths seems to be working out

Tl:DR of this thread

in order for automatically adding to steam to work out,while that setting is checked ofc

Install the game from gog/epic games/amazon
close the steam(From task manager)
Wait for 2 minutes
open back?

In order to add it Manually

Close the steam(From Task manager too)
Library,click on a game
Setting at top right,Add to Steam

even though i may have tried that before? but i guess i quickly opened it up to see if it worked or not and it didnt

automatically adding i think only happens when the game is installed, so if you did it after the fact it will not add games you already installed

sure but ultimately if you are installing games and adding them to steam this isnt something steam is really able to handle well form external apps, so you have to quit it and start it up again
