Hats like this hat
I have been looking for a straw hat for years at this point
Stiff flat brim
Classic ish look, not too cowboy
Beige colour
60 cm size (i think this is 7.5”+ diameter)
Rainmaker Kyoto made this excellent one this year but unfortunately it is too small and I wish it were more beige rather than white or black
No budget just want to see what’s out there
Pls help

The Naturalist Straw Hat
For centuries, The Panama Hat has been a staple of warm-weather style, revered for its wide brim, flattering shape, and durable craftsmanship. (It’s also a bit of a misnomer — the first Panama hats were made in Ecuador, but earned the moniker because they shipped out of Panama, and became especially popular after Teddy Roosevelt was photogra...

Chamula Aguacate Flat unisex Panama hat in Havano tan
"Monitaly and Chamula designer Yuki Matsuda went straight to the source for this one, having his hats handmade in Ecuador, not Panama as the name might imply. The result is a great looking hat, updated with a relatively small brim and a tied leather strand replacing the band"---Kyle Details 100% toquilla straw Creased

Imagine spending $1500 on a big hat
following
Ok so far I think the NMWA chamula is excellent
Imogene and Willie looks good but the link gives me a 404 for some reason and I can’t find it by searching their site
Stetson and Artesano and Todd Snyder I think I just don’t vibe with the wide band
Two roads a little too rustic agreed
The other Stetson I have considered is open road

But I think the chamula clears that easy
The more I think about it the more I think I’m going for like “straw park ranger hat”
Looks like the only Canadian stockist of chamula has this in a size 61 which I think would be my size

@warpweftwatergate wonder if you have any secret knowledge that would help here
Do specifically want the smokey bear style crown?

Townsend makes period accurate 18th century reproductions and i believe bishop has this hat. Comes to you unshaped so you can shape it yourself to your liking
I do remember bishop saying his was a reenactment brand
Also the reference photo you posted, that specific style of hat is called a campaign cover or campaign hat if you want to do some googling
thank you!
personally, I really like the chamula one.
I also like the straw open roads but I wasn’t sure if that was too “cowboy” or nah
yeah I might try and stop by the local stockist for chamula to figure out sizing
