Not able to edit tools
Hey folks - I have had this problem pop up many times for quite a while. I reopen a project and my ability to edit a DashToolsOutput item is gone. I am not 100% sure, but I think it may be happening after a crash, and more specifically, if I was editing the Dash actor while it crashed. Not 100% sure.

Sorry about this, let's try to get to the bottom of it!
Two main questions
1. Are you using sub-levels/persistent levels any? I noticed you had the level column in your outlier
2. If you click the DashSceneData actor in the outlier and check the details panel, is the JSON more or less empty, or do you see this Surface Scatter for example?
And also of course,
3. When you open this level, are there any errors in the UE output log?
If you got a crash while creating a tool and it had not been saved, it makes sense that this happens I think. But if you had saved it before, it's strange.
Any idea what led to the crash? or just normal UE crash? If you can see if you can find the crash files for the crash that you believe broke the surface scatter, we can check those for clues as well!

It is possible the crash happened before I could save anything, but in this case I am pretty confident it crashed after I saved the scene that had the Dash object but maybe while I was working on it. It's a big scene and one of those times where changes to a dynamic Dash object (like scatter) will push it hard and it can freeze up.
In this case I think I think it froze up when I selected one of the Instanced Static Mesh components.
In fact, when I select them now Unreal just locks up completely

Nothing interesting in the log, and ye the JSON is completely reset.
Hmm interesting, for me it works just fine selecting one of them, but my level is not any complex compared to yours of course.
Please have a check for one or a few crash files, perhaps the crash is from Dash as well
