Timeline stuck on loading
One of my phones has an issue where the timeline isn't loading. The albums are there with all the images, but the actual timeline is stuck and there's no data under Library. Both server and app are on the latest version.

Information
In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:
- Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l
and df -h
).
- The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.
Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Help us help you ;)
If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close
command, and re-open it later if needed.I have the server running on my home server, I connect via Tailscale local IP on my devices. One of my phones works well. The website on PC works well. It's just my second phone (of a family member) that has the issue.
This being said, I don't think the docker compose file or logs of the containers are relevant since the issue seems tied to that phone, but if necessary let me know and I'll include them.
Worth mentioning that previously I had the latest version installed on the phone but an old version of the server. I just updated the server, logged out and reconnected on mobile, but issue is still here
If you try without tailscale and just connect directly to the IP address, what happens?
Same issue
Can you adjust the log level to INFO then share the entire logs?
I am pretty sure it is this issue https://github.com/immich-app/immich/issues/16046#issuecomment-2657784399
Maybe close and reopen the app after doing this before exporting the logs
The logs were already set to info, no?
these indicates it is in verbose

Turn logs to info > clean logs > close and open app > wait a bit > first log > clean logs > log out > log back in > wait a bit > second log
There doesn't seem to be any errors even after letting it run for a few minutes, just won't load
Please share the screenshot of the IP/URL being used in the login page of the app and also showing the same url in the mobile browser
Can you help try the suggestion in this thread? https://github.com/immich-app/immich/issues/16046#issuecomment-2657784399

Website on mobile doesn't load the timeline either
All the albums are there, all the media is accessible, timeline blank
I’m confused. That’s doesn’t look like “not loading” on web? It looks like there are zero assets
Where CAN you see assets using this same user login?
Under albums

Also same ip, different device and user, everything loads

Same device as above but with the troubled user, timeline loads too

So it's something with that device
Hmm weird. Same device, browser, different users, one shows photos, one doesn't

Is it because all the albums are owned by the C user and only shared with D? Is the timeline supposed to only show the media you uploaded?
Yes…..
Or partner shared with you. Not albums
What do you mean?
Wait, now the timeline loaded on the D user on my device..

Partner sharing; you can read in the docs about the feature
I don’t see any bug here tbh
So let me get this clear, the timeline only shows you the media your user uploaded?
That OR If you have someone who has Partner sharing turned on with you, you can also set those assets to be shown in the Timeline.
From what I read on the docs, partner sharing makes it so all my media is shared, no? I only want to share some albums
You are correct.
So I can't make the media in those albums appear in their timeline?
No not currently
Such a weird choice
Depends on who you ask. I like them not showing by default. May come some day, there's a feature request open. Just not how it works now.
Why do you like it like this? I thought the only use of the timeline is to show you all the media in one place. If I share an album of my cats, there's no reason why the other user shouldn't see them in the timeline no? Or at least logically make it a filter or choice
in the future we will have option to show assets in shared album
it is a larger scope of work we are aiming to do
the current data models simply doesn't allow it
I think should be a choice as Alex said. I like the default solely because if I am shared an album with 1000 photos currently from an event, I don't want them all in my timeline, I want to just see them in the album. For my use case would feel to cluttered.
When you put it like that it makes more sense. In my mind Immich is something mainly aimed for personal use so it made more sense for me that I could make an account for my family members and we'd all have a shared timeline of all our shared albums. Basically just like a mobile gallery app but with the sharing & backup features.
For sure. Different use cases, just giving perspective. That's why the option is good
