(Network) am i got rerouted?
Basically, I play in Singapore with 15ms ping. If the queue takes too long to find a match, after entering the game the ping shows 45ms.
Was I rerouted to another server?
I set it to only use the Singapore server
Can someone who's an expert in networking explain?

the server selector does say preferences are not guaranteed, if it can't find you a game in the servers you have selected it can just throw you into the other servers
why would you need an expert in networking to explain this πππ
Actually, it's not really necessary β I just find it strange sometimes why the reroute can be farther than the optimal server. Sometimes I'm directed to Sydney too, with ping over 100ms xD
So you can actually play the game..?
By game = yes, I can play, but the system throws me into another region, which makes the gameplay experience less than optimal.
i get 10k ping sometimes π
after around the 8 minute mark it ignores your server selection
@Ryn Are you having this problem every game ?
mostly seen it happen to people from sa, they get sent to Dubai because of no players at like 3 am
This only happens at certain times (probably due to a low number of players online). It's true, as mentioned above, that matchmaking feels slow β taking more than 3 or 4 minutes β and when a match is found, the region name on the screen doesn't show "COMPETITIVE SINGAPORE" but just "COMPETITIVE".
Also, as far as I know, the best route from Indonesia is through Singapore with a 14β15 ms fiber optic connection.
But when it gets rerouted, the ping can go up to 30 ms (unknown region), and it's usually more towards Hong Kong (around 40β45 ms).
The furthest reroute I've experienced had a ping of over 100 ms (Sydney).
But oh well, itβs not a big deal.
Oh yeah, just a little story β when my in-game ping shows a stable 30 ms, I tend to encounter more players from Indonesia. I'm not sure if that's a specific server.
I don't think it's the Singapore or Hong Kong server, haha xD
