immich mobile - places sorted by country and map
So I noticed there are differences and problems in my Immich mobile compared to web version.
In web UI I can go to explore / places and can have it grouped by country - great feature which Google Photos does not have at all!
In mobile this options is missing and I only have a really long list (if I didn't miss some checkbox somewhere?)
The same applies to albums - in web UI I can group them by year, but don't see this option in mobile app
In web UI the map works fine, but in mobile it says "no photos in this area", what?
During typing of this post I noticed that it is probably just now being generated! I didn't know the map is not generated somehow in advance but OK, it was just not clear what's happening. Few design suggestions:
When user opens the map for the first time, put there some message which clearly indicates that the map needs to be generated and it will take some time! When I waited around a minute I saw orange circles on the map. Trying to move around caused lag and android told me the app does not respond. I tapped "wait" and eventually it worked.
Also from some reason when I tap library / places in mobile. I get this weird minimap oh Hawaii! I have never been there, so why is it showing for me?
