several issues seemingly out of nowhere???
hello! i'm running a dual boot of Bazzite and Windows on my Lenovo Legion GO. last night i played and did light computing without any issues, i shut the Go down and went to sleep after.
now when i opened my Go, which boots Bazzite by default since i use it more, a lot of things uust don't work anymore?? here's a list of what i've already encountered:
what happened and what can i do? i'm so confused...
now when i opened my Go, which boots Bazzite by default since i use it more, a lot of things uust don't work anymore?? here's a list of what i've already encountered:
- my storage got hogged out of nowhere? from 30GB of free storage, it went to 6 and i always download my games onto an external SSD. i haven't downloaded anything last night;
- Bazzite often now boots to Desktop mode asking me to log into Steam again, i always let it remember my password;
- my SD card is no longer read by Bazzite in specific; my phone and the Windows boot read it without an issue;
- even when Steam does log me in, if i try to access it in Desktop mode, it would often just be unresponsive besides the desktop controller layout.
what happened and what can i do? i'm so confused...
Solution
I used to run bazzite and Windows next to each other. I elected to remove windows because I was noticing some minor behavioral issues sometimes. I haven't had any of the issues you've stated here with the exception of steam getting clobbered and blender as well.
Now I can't say that it's anything in particular, but it does sound like Maybe some of your games are clogging the hard drive or maybe they unpacked in a particular way or Created a bunch of save states that are really heavy...
I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure unless I saw what was clogging your hard drive or see what softwares you are using.
Now, similarly to you, I have some latent issues with my memory being bloated / hogged. So my ram gets stuck close to 13 out of 16 gigs used. I've noticed this tends to be due to a few issues, Like memory leaks and specific applications or nothing being utilized, but the memory leak being persistent.
In your case, maybe you have a specific situation with your swap file taking a ton space?
I'm kind of shooting the shit here and just seeing if I can make you look at a few different options.
Worst case scenario is that you could reinstall Bazzite. Now, I'm not sure what you mean by desktop mode, but I assume you mean big picture for steam. If that's the case, then there's a specific setting in Steam that sets it to big picture.
