GTA 5, owned on epic games says buy now, steam deck user
Hi all, I can’t get gta 5 to work on my steam deck. I installed it through Epic using Heroic on my steam deck, when I went to launch it for the first time it installed the rockstar launcher automatically but, it won’t detect the game. I’ve tried using various scripts, .bat files and launching the exe from the .bat file but, I can’t get anything working. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What version has more chance to work? I can get logs for the normal version or the enhanced, I’ve tried both

Your issue is before the game itself. Just get it for whatever you want to run

Removed it and now trying proton 3.16
That wouldn’t launch, now trying without the alternative .exe

note that the env variable you used is wrong, the correct one is
USE_FAKE_EPIC_EXE, not USE_FAKE_EPIC
when the env variable is there it should let heroic automate all the fix.bat workaround
I haven't tested GTAV enhanced (I don't own it), though I did test both GTAV and RDR2 when implementing that feature in heroicratty-blushOP•4mo ago
I own both, I’ll try that now on the enhanced version. I read on the online guide that you had to use a specific proton for the enhanced version but that hasn’t worked either

That’s on me. I should edit that to be “9-27 or newer.” At the time I wrote that, 9-27 was the newest

Logging out and back in doesn’t work, but an error message is progress
It’s working!! I had put the variable in a wrapper state by accident, it’s working now
