On screen keyboard issues.

When updating to the newest steamos release on rog ally x i cannot take up on screen keyboard in gaming mode in any way. Gestures, back button, regular steam os combo. Anybody experiencing the same ?

I have the Rog Ally Z1E and the swipe up button isn't opening the keyboard for me anymore. I'm on the bazzite-deck:stable-42.20250522.1 image Tested bazzite-deck:stable-42.20250519.2 and the issue is still there When I look in the logs I can see that HHD is detecting the swipe up and trying to open the keyboard, not seeing any error message on the log though.

Rolled back to bazzite-deck:stable-42.20250425 and the issue persists, probably something changes on the steamos side like you suspect @antheas (sorry for the ping) Can you reproduce on your Ally X?

Looking at the source code it looks like it's running something like this ~/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32/steam -ifrunning steam://open/keyboard and the output I get is

CProcessEnvironmentManager is ready, 6 preallocated environment variables.
Steam is already running, exiting (command line was forwarded).

But no keyboard showing up

The command is working when I'm in desktop mode. So I'd guess that it's a steam issue

I just pulled the trigger and installed bazzite on my ally aswell. For the love of god i cannot get the on screen keyboard to show up in desktop mode. Am i correct to assume this is a known bug at this point?

Yes Just swipe up Binds don't work on the ally So you need to swap the top and bottom buttons

Well, it works for me, but it only writes inside Steam. The problem I have is that I have muscular dystrophy and I can't move my hand well. That's why an on-screen keyboard is important to me because I can move the mouse better. @wolfyreload
