WoW suddenly not working
Hey guys. I booted up my PC yesterday after work and sudden WoW Cataclysm isn't working through steam. My other games work fine. There seems to be some issue with the graphics when launching and I'm not sure if it was there before but appears that WoW no longer has my graphics card recognised? Running Proton experimental which I was before and have tried hotfix and stable with no luck.
Tried lowering graphics to bottom but still crashes once launching into game. Any help appreciated.

Have you tried GE proton? Using 10.3 (via lutris and steam shortcut) and retail at least works for me fine
Probably worth posting an , OP. Any chance you're using an nvidia GPU?
I have the same issue, using an Nvidia card. I rebased back to and its working fine again.
To rebase you would do:
While that may fix it, it doesn't resolve the problem permanently, and you will be on that version until you rebase back to stable at some other point (I think). The images after 20250519 seem to have an updated nvidia driver (570-153-02) included in the image. Rebasing to a lower version reinstalls 570-144.
@Joy Ful sorry to ping ya - does the thumbs up mean that rebasing worked for you? Can you share your the rpm-ostree status output by chance?
Finally got enough time to play with this today, and in case anyone else comes across this issue -
I had installed bnet as an external game in Steam, which was my issue. Installing via Lutris fixed it. That originally was stalling at 45% and then freezing. The fix for that is to click the gear to the right of "Wine" in the Lutris page and change it to "Proton - Experimental" and then install battle.net. Install went fine, pointed the game back at the original install directory and all is working.
I think this can be marked as "answered"
Thanks for the write up! I just ran into this problem trying to install WoW via Lutris for a new Bazzite machine. I wrote down the steps that I made to fix it based on this thread. I hope this is useful for someone else.
1. Try to install battle.net. It will fail with the update agent stalling at 45%
2. Go back to the Library pane and select the Wine category. Click on the cog icon next to the word "Wine" to open the Wine settings for the Battle.net launcher
3. Change the Wine version to "Proton - Experimental" and save the settings
4. Download the installer exe from https://www.battle.net/download/getInstallerForGame?os=win&version=LIVE&gameProgram=BATTLENET_APP
5. Go back to the "Battle.net" entry in Lutris and click on the Wine icon at the bottom of the window to select "Run EXE inside Wine prefix"
6. Choose the installer exe that you just downloaded and finish the installation
Ran into the same issue today, unfortunately. Bazzite with an intel processor and an NVIDIA card.
Eventually managed to get it working after installing GE-Proton 10-4 through ProtonPlus on Lutris.
Followed the steps above with the exception of using GE-Proton 10-4 instead of Proton - Experimental.
