non native games and apps have weird topbar and sides

non native games and apps have this windows 98 style top bar and sides, how do i change this?

this has been showing up since Proton hit version 10. I don't think there's a resolution yet

switched to proton 9.0-4 and it fixed it, i guess it really is a problem with proton maybe?

i tried the ge version and proton experimental, they have the same problem sadly
