SHi, my name is Hylan, nice to meet you. I’m reaching you because I have an issue I can’t solve with the epic games store game dead island 2.
The first one, is that I can’t make heroic games work on game mode in steam deck, it runs, but when I try to launch any game screen goes black and then it closes. I tried changing proton from steam, from heroic, and the only solution I got is finding the real game exe file and add it as a non steam game, however, this is not working for all games, for example with dead island 2 that I have to play in desktop mode.

SOn the other hand, using proton ge i can run the game in desktop mode, but video codecs are not working and I can see videos, I only see an old calibration tv screen.
When I try to play the game without the videos I can’t do it with friends, because they can join between them to the game seamlessly and form some reason when I enter their game or they enter mine, loading takes forever and anything happen.
How can I solve all of this?

NYou should never change your Proton version from Steam
