Actually in the intermediate solving you would get something like arccot(cot(some stuff)), the some stuff is in the range of (-pi/2,pi/2), when the "some stuff" is -ve the value obtained is pi-mod(some stuff) while when it is positive, the value obtained in argument of sine is (some stuff).
Sorry for the crass explanation, but I will try to send a more elaborative explanation later.
