How would you extend the sleeve of a jacket that's 5" too short but otherwise fits perfectly?

I've tried going up to a 5x and the sleeves are barely an inch longer, when I'm normally XL or so. I'm thinking some other sleeve layering underneath or maybe adding something to the sleeve that makes it look intentional, but I'm open to anything. Currently my only extended jacket (with the thumb hole in the cuff) was a 4" stretch in the bicep and another 4 in the forearm, but that's too long for a normal look

Like a sport coat/tailored jacket? I mean you can’t extend it that much but I’ve seen lines that make “extra long/tall” ready-to-wear sizes. How long is this sleeve in question (from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff)?

26” sleeve is a long. I think extra longs only add another inch. You could maybe let it out another inch after that.

i don't button it because it goes full Used Car Salesman, but this is pretty average for how long sleeves fit off the rack

it lends itself to intentionally stupid pics but it does fix up pretty good unbuttoned getting it to sit flat is a nightmare so that's not a representative pic but yeah i'm just oddly proportioned, 6'6 but i can wrap my middle knuckles around a 2m stick so probably 6'10 wingspan

You’re asking to save this specific jacket? Yeah you might get another inch max from letting out the sleeve but otherwise I don’t think it’s happenin

this is the one i have in mind, but almost every jacket has the same issue this one I was thinking put some fake sleeves hanging out the bottom to look like it's layered, or a cuff or something

Right. I’ve seen extra longs but beyond that I’m no help

my daily jacket is a 4x patched hollister jacket that's more holes than jacket because it's the only one with sleeves that sit at my wrist i guess im just doomed to cold arms

Ya at that height/wingspan it's gonna be extremely hard, you'd probably have to go to mtm or get lucky with certain tall lines

wait i do have a denim jacket that's long enough, but that's also what dad said when he got it new in 1996 and that brand is deeeeeaaaaaad so thats not great either

The fact that you have a 38 chest is what makes it complicated

that's about what i was thinking, guess i get to be creative. next question (in a new thread) will be about vests lol eh, that's not bad finding pants in 33x38, that's a pain

Some of the old Abercrombie shirts have extremely long sleeves, probably 38” tbh. I’m a 36 and some are way too long. But that’s only with their button down shirts I noticed

it's why I don't like big and tall stores, I need a big or tall store yeah abercrombie and hollister were fantastic for sleeves, that's the last time they fit me but that was 15 years ago

I don’t shop very cheap so they may not all meet your budget but that’s what it is

i take what i can get, as long as its lifetime is proportional to its cost yknow dont want a $50 jacket lasting longer than a $300 one, etc
Please Go Away
Do you have any shirts that fit you well? It's a good idea to measure the clothing itself since a lot of listings will show clothing measurements and those won't always be the same as your body measurements. For body measurements, I recommend going to a tailor and asking them to do it for you so you know the measurements are accurate. A lot of them will do this for free.

I have a few shirts that fit well, and the measurements were from stopping in at men’s wearhouse (not the best, I know, but close to my place)
