Need help starting up a 1.8.9 survival server – plugin recs & advice?
I’m setting up a 1.8.9 survival server — nothing flashy, just something simple and nostalgic, like how servers used to be. I’ve got it running with Paper, but honestly, I’ve not done much of this before and I’m not sure where to start when it comes to plugins or server setup.
What I’m after is:
A way to stop griefing (some sort of land protection, I guess?)
Basic commands like /home and /spawn (but I don’t want /tpa or teleporting between players)
Something to manage permissions and ranks
Maybe anti-cheat?
Anything else that’s considered essential or just useful to have on a small server
Not aiming for a big public server — just a chill survival world for some mates to play on. If anyone’s got plugin suggestions or tips on setting it all up properly, I’d really appreciate the help.

I recommend using https://github.com/hpfxd/PandaSpigot instead of normal paper for 1.8, it fixes some large issues in normal paper 1.8 and improves performance a bit, also supports newer java versions
