Wont allow me to select anything or play any of the games, did I need to just purchase the Steam version?

Please follow these instructions on using GE-Proton:

Head to the Wine Manager in Heroic, click the "GE-Proton" tab, and install "GE-Proton-Latest"
Head to the settings for your game(s) (icon on game card in library). In the "Wine Version" dropdown, select "Proton - GE-Proton-latest"
Rename your Wineprefix (path is shown in game settings), e.g. from current-namecurrent-name to current-name_bakcurrent-name_bak. To clarify: Rename the actual folder on your hard drive, do not change the option in the game settings.
Note: This will make game-specific configuration data (e.g. in-game settings or save files) unavailable. If this is an issue, let us know & we'll help you restore them.

that is not what the guide tells you to do:

the Wine Version selector should show GE-Proton, NOT Wine-GEWine-GE
the WinePrefix folder setting should NOT be changed, only rename the actual folder in your file manager, change the config value to be something like /home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/KingdomHearts/home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/KingdomHearts

actually, if you renamed the defaultdefault folder to default_bakdefault_bak, change it back to defaultdefault, renaming that may break other games if you are using the prefix for multiple games
