what's worth buying with $150 of saks 5th ave gift cards
between the amex plat card and my own dumbassery, i'm ending up with $150 in saks 5th gift cards in july lol. i'm sorely in need an entire wardrobe as my current one is basically falling apart + it's just shabby and i'm starting to get interest in spending better. i'm usually loath to splurge on "quality" basics, since it offends me to (e.g.) pay $70 for a plain t-shirt.

but these kinds of credits are different. i got $150 to spend at saks and i don't mind spending them on some quality pieces. my problem is i'm not sure where to find value. should i be looking at any particular brands being sold there? i'm assuming saks off fifth is mostly lower quality?
like i could use t-shirts, nice jeans/ chinos/ linen pants (especially need linen pants for nyc summers upcoming), linen shirts etc. would love any recs for brands to look at. also am i right to think 4th of july will be a good time to look for sales?
also if it all sucks i can just buy non clothes stuff
Without knowing how you generally dress already its hard to recommend anything specific
I think taking your own idea and looking for a pair of linen pants or a shirt or two
You're going to find that $150 isn't going to get you as far as you are imagining at Saks without diving in the deep end of the sale section which can be very hit or miss
My biggest recommendation is not buying something because you feel obliged to spend the money. Find something *you * like.
honestly I dress like someone who works in tech and doesn't care about fashion but has a basic understanding of how clothes fit
that's changing some but that's why i want to start with qualtiy basics
i'm definitely not expecting it to go very far. even 2-3 tees would be fine. even just a single pair of linen pants would be fine. my main concern is me buying some vastly marked up piece of junk that i lack the expertise to realize is relatively low quality and i find this out later
afaik saks is one of those places with a lot of extremely overpriced shit and it's hard for me to be discerning. even just having a few brands to look at would be a helpful starting place
looking through saks linen pants they all suck short of some really nice ones that are in the thousands
saks be stocking some whack shit
Corridor or Polo RL would be my bet. Honestly almost nothing there is worth it at those prices
they're selling a baboon to the moon mega tote which is a really cool tote bag
Im pretty sure their womens wear selection is a lot larger than the mens wear one
If you can't find anything you could gift the gift cards to a woman
just buy some home goods
seems like you’re talking yourself out of buying clothes there

I always use my Saks Amex credit to treat myself to some nice lotion or fragrance. The clothing designers they carry are all just not my style
Sacai
This is all super helpful, thanks everyone! And yeah I went to the storefront and wasn't impressed by anything there given the outrageous prices
this or the home goods are probably the move
Love Byredo Bal D'Afrique, it is probably my favorite lotion scent in the world
I honestly never use any scent either so this might be a good idea to get me into the habit
