Pre Render help
Hello! I've recently saw a video of someone showing a "100 gb" world view with the mod.
I've read throught the faq and did not undersand how the pre-generation work,
I've set the setting to Internal Server as stated in the Faq but what now /

Do you just want to render a very large distance with DH or do you want to render a large distance and save chunks?
Basically, I want to have a large distance and highly detailed too.
I don't really understand the chunks part
DH can create LODs (which is the simplified world data it uses to render beyond the vanilla render distance) without creating chunks in your world folder. When you set the mod to internal server you will be creation chunks in addition to LODs, but this is required for the LODs to be precise.
I see, I've indeed set it to internal server, do I just stand in place now?
Pregen is only relevant for multiplayer servers. If you're in singleplayer, just leave the game open while DH works
Alright! Thanks 😄
then you don't need to use internal_server
just leave it at features
set the LOD distance to what you want, for example 512. Then set the CPU load to the highest and wait until your CPU stops screaming for help
IIRC features doesn't necessarily place all features correctly. Internal server will be better for more accurate LODs.
yes, but internal server is generally slower
Yes, it's a trade-off
Also I doubt that the trees being placed in the right way is gonna matter much to having a large view
For most people probably not. But some are very picky. I guess that's why we have the option :p
yup
Why when I move away from already generated area it's gone?

I do need to go for now. I will reply later today. Thank you in advance.
!overdraw
Q: There are holes at the edge of vanilla Render Distance, especially during movement
A: This is caused by either vanilla terrain not loading in fast enough, or shader's incorrect overdraw prevention implementation or configuration (if you use one)
Some world gen speed improvement can be found when adding these three mods, but the affect will be minor:
- Noisium
- Faster Random
- C2ME (DH 2.3.0+)
The easiest fix is to move slower and/or ignore it. This hole is most visible while moving over not generated (by vanilla) terrain. Moving over that terrain every subsequent time may not create the hole. And moving slower will give MC more time to load the chunks as you go.
If none of that helped, you can also tune the overdraw prevention, look at the third section to know how.
Q: There are low quality full blocks behind and around non-full block, e.g. fences or ladders
A: This is intended behavior, to prevent holes in the world while you move, DH will overlap with some part of the vanilla terrain.
How much of the terrain is covered is determined by the overdraw prevention:
1.0 will mean DH LODs start where vanilla chunks end.
0.1 will mean that DH render very close to the players position.
0.0 sets it on auto mode.
To fix this, you can either:
Increase your vanilla RD, which will move the DH LODs further from you.
Tune the Overdraw Prevention setting, see the next section to know how.
Q: Where do I edit the overdraw prevention setting?
A: Overdraw prevention setting can be edited inside the DH config under:
Advanced > Graphics > Culling
BUT: if you use shaders, they will influence overdraw prevention. The effectiveness of overdraw prevention depends on the shader’s internal settings, which may or may not be adjustable. However, the shader’s overdraw prevention will always operate within the limits set by DH’s overdraw prevention. To avoid conflicts, ensure that DH’s overdraw prevention is not set too high.
Section 1
What is your vanilla RD?
If you plan on moving a lot in the world, you can pregen smaller distance on INTRNAL_SERVER, e.g. 128 or 256 DH RD
Then switch to FEATURES for smaller world side and faster generation up to the target 512 or 1024 DH RD
