Controlller problems
Hello! I’ve installed death stranding on my deck from egs thanks to heroic. But steam deck controller is not working at all. The game is running, screen sensor is working. But there is no response from buttons. Heroic version 2.17.2. Wine ge latest. Please help!

Wine-GE is rather old now (last release is almost a year ago) and thus might not work correctly. Please follow these instructions on using GE-Proton:
1. Head to the Wine Manager in Heroic, click the "Proton-GE" tab, and install "Proton-GE-Latest"
2. Head to the settings for your game(s) (icon on game card in library). In the "Wine Version" dropdown, select "Proton - Proton-GE-latest"
3. Rename your Wineprefix (path is shown in game settings), e.g. from
current-name to current-name_bak. To clarify: Rename the actual folder on your hard drive, do not change the option in the game settings.
Note: This will make game-specific configuration data (e.g. in-game settings or save files) unavailable. If this is an issue, let us know & we'll help you restore them.afraid-scarletOP•3mo ago

Looks like it is not working at all now. Game can not be started.
1. Now I use proton ge latest
2. Wineprefix end folder was renamed.

It is interesting, but now brotato game also doesn’t work. But few months ago I launched it.

don't launch from Heroic in game mode. either launch from a shortcut added by Heroic, or open Heroic in desktop mode

I had the same issue but not on Steam deck, I had to run winetricks > default winetricks prefix > run regedit> and add a specific file

Keep in mind that this fix is working for Epic Games launcher wrapper
if it works you have to do it for each individual games unfortunately
I also own death stranding but director's cut version for epic games

I do not have this issue on a Deck or Ally X, both running Bazzite.

1. Proton ge does not launch death stranding. I don’t know why. Same thing experimental, hotfix, proton 9.0…. But! Old wine ge latest works! Why? No answers… Somebody tell me please what wine do you use in this game.
2. Launching from desktop mode works. Gamepad is working (I also changed gamepad mode via ///-settings button)
I’ve just found another variant how to fix gamepad in game mode. But it is specific one.
I tested launching via port proton, and it was successful) :rollsafe:
However I don’t know yet what about saves, cloud saves and multiplayer in this case.:thonk:
Of course no multiplayer in port proton version. Also they have different saves.
_bak method also doesn’t work with different wines

old wine isn't dependent on umu, so it doesn't use the steam runtime

Oh, it’s crazy, but now, all works perfectly into game mode also! Gamepad is working properly.
