Bobby functions the same Sure you can set your render distance to 100 but you still needa explore like 3000 blocks before it looks good

Well, without Distant Horizons on the server, the server will ignore requests for chunks beyond the server's set render distance. This is a vanilla behavior.

So it's impossible to bypass. You must have DH on the server for this feature to function No work arounds or anythin exploits well that sucks

Possibly with exploits, but that's going to be a security issue that Mojang will definitely going to patch up. And also, abusing exploit is frowned upon.

I don't see it as disrupting other users experience or anything like that, though the moral of it is bad It's just to use something that is required to be on the server which is hard to do since most servers just dont have it/ wont add it I get what u mean though

Imagine a scenario where there's an exploit in the server software where players can requests chunks outside of the server render distance, if one of the player decides to be malicious, they can start requesting a lot of chunks unrestricted, causing the server to overload and lag out.

Fair This mod is really cool it's genuinely annoying it's not a vanilla feature man

No need to imagine this. Having an increased render distance also has the same effect. Heck, even Distant Horizons installed on the server can give the same effect if the server uses the default limit of 4096 chunks.

My pc caps it at 64 for some reason and when i use mods like Bobby you still need to explore the chunks before they save

This could be put into some kind of FAQ if people want bit more info, but so far, you're the only person who have asked this kind of question.

also high render distance just lags cause minecraft is unoptimized and loads blocks thousands of blocks away full res Most people don't face the same issue The servers I keep playing on just keep banning DH because of "x-ray capabilties" which I literally just find stupid It's like they have this negative view on the mod

Oh, not this excuse again...

Lets ban a mod that can possibly x-ray (not even do it well) but my players can just install a texture pack and xray anyways

Keep in mind this was before the 2,3 server update now it works on servers and they still say no because it was eating up the ram I cant win with these people man 😭

about this render distance, how you can you get it higher than 64? Also are you familiar with the mod Bobby?

Is this kinda what DH does? Meaning I'd still have to explore the chunks myself before I can walk away and have them still there?

Based on the description, it records chunk data and stores it in its own location, similar to how Distant Horizons generate LODs for a given area around the player and stores it in its own location as well. From the looks of it, Bobby's so-called "LOD" is more akin to actual chunk information rather than Distant Horizons' LOD information.
