We are running inside a Flatpak container
Since you are on flatpak it might have been in .var directory as well Press ctrl+h while in file browser to see hidden files/dirs (ones that starts with . just like android)

Since this is Deck like config (probs Rog ally ) portrait mode stuff might be the issue which would require usage of gamescope or simply you need to select a different launch option
/home/deck/Games/Heroic/The Witcher Enhanced Edition/launcher.exe
So test latter first, open game settings page in heroic, select use alternative exe option
System/witcher.exe
Which i guess would be this according to steamdb

You added game to Steam right? Game page on Heroic, upper right, add to Steam Try run it via Steam that way to see if it is indeed because lack of gamescope ( native Steam client in game mode runs on gamescope=

hmm, last resort i guess Disable both gamemode and umu in Heroic for that game Disabling gamemode means removing tick of it, disabling umu is ticking disable umu box

Did you launched from steam deck game mode and have controller support or did you use a Keyboard? I'm able to launch the game in desktop mode but there is no controller support. If I launch in Game Mode I can here the Startup but get a black screen. Got some Update. In the case of The Witcher, it still does not Support a native steam deck as a controller Input but I've changed the Wine Prefix folder from /heroic/games/default/GAMENAME -> /heroic/games/GAMENAME and also choses the alternative .exe settings to /system/witcher.exe. started the Game once from Desktop Mode in Heroic launcher, done some Settings in Game (resolution, sound & language), closed the game and switched to Game Mode on the Steam Deck, changed here the Controller Layout to something similar like mouse and keyboard and startet the game. I was able to choose the analog sticks and the trackpad and the R1/R2 Buttons as a mouse. Maybe there is more to do but as The Witcher - Enhanced edition supports Mouse Only Control I'll see how far this can take me.

Desktop Linux Not a Steam Deck

I've since discovered that every game that doesn't support a native gamepad simply requires a KMS profile. Sometimes you can find one in the Steam community, but sometimes you have to create one yourself.
