Wedding suit recommendations
Hi, I'm looking for a wedding suit & want to go a bit more fashion & contemporary than getting a more traditional suit tailored. So I'm currently at looking at off the rack fashion brands.
- Budget: aiming for around £2k but looking at £1-3k. Could stretch to £4k for something really special
- The wedding will be outdoor and very hot, so looking for light summer materials
- Colours: I've been looking at black, off-white, brown, creams. I'm open to mixing jacket & trouser colours.
If it helps for the type of suit... I'm 6ft 2, have broad shoulders, have long arms (high ape index) and a long torso. So I think higher waisted trousers help balance that out a bit.
Attached a few photos I like (though obviously not with turtlenecks given the heat...)

Hi @cooleh! The best way to get a good answer is to ask a great question.
Please consider including:
- Reference pictures of things you like or are looking for. The more the better!
- Pictures of you wearing things if you have fit questions.
- A specific budget in numbers. “Affordable" means different things to different people.
- Specific measurements: Chest and waist are far more useful than height and weight.
- Measurements of your favourite fitting clothing. Learning these measurements will go a long way in helping you shop online and secondhand!
- Whether you're happy to buy secondhand.
- Whether you prefer to buy in person or are open to shopping online.
- Your vague location, especially if that limits your options because of customs or access to stores. A country or continent is helpful.
- Timescales: Do you need something urgently, or can you wait for the right thing at the right price?
Also, please use the search function to see if a similar question has already been asked!

- 42-44 chest, 34-36 waist
- Looking for new
- In-person (London UK) or online
- Timescales: ideally in the next couple of weeks
not OTR but being in london does open up going in person to Scott Fraser Collection
next couple of weeks makes it pretty difficult
you'll have to buy it ASAP and get it express tailored on that timeframe
he said ideally, idk what the hard deadline is
SFC is 6-8 weeks so probably not a realistic option

Go to Selfridge's or Harrods or Liberty and try on as much stuff as possible with that budget. Probably Bond Street too.

fair question, and I'm a real novice to suits so I probably don't know what I mean. I guess I meant I'm open to the slightly more "fashion" features like the metallic stitching on this first one, or whatever this guy has going on with his shirt collar and the baggy trousers in the 2nd/3rd. not sure what the term is, but a bit more "fashion" than "traditional"

Most of the big London stores have someone they can recommend or in house.
yeah the suiting in those will be a bit more toned down probably, but its good to try stuff on for sure
If you find something you like at these nearly all the brands have flagship stores in London that might have more choice or more out there stuff.

I really like Tom Ford from what I'm seeing on Mr Porter though my budget would probably limit me to what's on sale

the london Dries Van Noten store may also be worht checking, they do some fun DB stuff, there are also pants with the right one super light and cool viscose
I actually went to their store last week! I had an awful experience with the shop assistant, honestly terrible, but aside from that I did like their suits a lot...
my main worry was the long jackets really accentuated my long torso

honestly a lot of the 'long torso' stuff is kinda fake... the waist of the suit is where the waist of the suit is it doesnt really matter where yours is

imo, thats mostly in your head. this is me in wide pants and a big jacket and i have the same chest and waist as you but a few inches shorter

Husbands is really cool but might be tricky for someone with wide shoulders, their jackets are cut very narrow

they are mainly an MTO brand so if there was more time it would be a great option, esp since you could pick the the fabric

is "Brown wool and silk-blend" reasonable for summer?
depends on the percentage of wool vs silk
wool silk is nice, it will be decent. linen/viscose almost always nicer but if different look. imo the color is very nice but for TF pricing the cut isnt interesting enough imo
wool silk alone doesn't necessarily mean anything. I have a wool silk overcoat and it's the warmest thing in my wardrobe
from the detail shots it looks like a pretty solid weave, so I don't think it will be very beathable
