Shouldn't it be 1
hmmmmmm i dont remember my S Block that well
but i dont thik its much higher
oh wait its double nvm
yea it is much higher
im not getting hows it 4? shouldnt it be based on ionization energy
the reason part
i think its cuz smaller ion hai to you will need more energy to remove electron
cuz Zeff will have increased
true
after Mg+
weird way to express it in question but yeah wahi hai
yea
NO WAY I SOLVED AN IOC KA THINGY
THIS IS HISTORICAL
W

@Jeepaglu
vhat
oh
💀
but hou is mg2+ being small a reason for ionization energy increae
see
look at it this way
if the electrons are closer to nucleus (atom is small) it will more diffcutlt to remove electron (nucleus will strognly attract the electron in the shell)
ya i get that
what is IE then
think about it
hou hard it is to remove electiron
IE is the energy required to remove outermost electron
ya
very
1400kj/mol
check out pTable
i vas ansering ur question ðŸ˜
oh
damn
ok
sorry
but yes
since diffifulty to remove electron inreased (Zeff incresed) the IE increased as well
cuz now you have to use more energy to take out the electron (Zeff is stronk)
hou does mg2+ being small corrolate to it being harder to remove an electron from mg+ is my doubt
yea that i think is a wording problem or maybe im not well versed enough
(probably 2nd)
ye to
yahi bolre the hum
the ion formed AFTER removing the electrion is smaller tho
thats the reason given
if im correct
since Mg2+ is smaller and carries more positive charge *(greater Zeff) * the energy required to form Mg2+ is greater than Mg+
does that make sense???
@Jeepaglu
mujhe nahi samjha ;-;
dekho
small ion means higher IE
right?
if mg2+ is smaller then vont the greater Zeff be applicable just to mg++ ke eectron
ya
also high positive charge also high IE
ya
well put them both together and boom
if the ion is smaller and has greater positive charge then the IE to get to Mg2+ is greater than the IE to get Mg+
nope its applicable to Mg as well
hain
mg ko kaise applicable
is Zeff for Mg+ greater than Mg
ye batao
yes
is Zeff for Mg2+ greater than Mg+
yes
then
can i say
Mg2+ > Mg+ >Mg
in terms of Zeff
yes
bas ho to gaya Zeff for Mg2+ is greater than Mg
therefore i can say that
IE to go from Mg ---> Mg2+
is greter than
IE to go from Mg ---> Mg+
haan
this is assertion
and its true
haan
and this is only the reason
oooooooooooooh
YESS SAMJHE??
wo keh raha hai
chamka
kossan language bad
IE to go from Mg ---> Mg2+
is greter than
IE to go from Mg ---> Mg+
ye isne bola assertion me
kind of yes
so in the reason
they vere trying to infer that
zeff for mg++ is more than mg+
yeaaaaaa
ofcc
