I am having trouble with running GMODCEFCodecFIX on BazziteOS
If I try doing the chmod +x '--' command and launching the executable file for the CEFCodecFix, it comes up with a log file saying that it could not find any terminal emulator. I would really appreciate it if someone could help out.

I have already tried following the instructions and they failed
The chmod step seems optional.
Whenever I run it, it prints out a txt file to the same folder as the Codec fix that says
"GModCEFCodecFix could not find a suitable Terminal Emulator!

Oh it can't find Ptyxis? That's, interesting.
What is Ptyxis?
Oh
Default Bazzite Terminal.
Oh
Yeah it cant find it for some reason and I really need help with this
I'll be honest that I'm not sure this mod is usable on Bazzite. We had another user earlier today who was trying to set this up and I think they failed too.
How do I run Gmod on Linux then
Hm, I would try and run this using a GE proton. You experimented with protons at all?
Hah, already found the fix!

This has the GMODCefCodec winget command
And its working
Huh!
Let me know if that plays successfully.
@CHRISS Vector
What did you end up using, just the plain CEF install or?

it failed
It wasn't able to install the CEF Codec fix @Xenia Meraki

Now THAT'S silly.

I installed the codec fix first, then I installed the linux fix
If you're using an NVIDIA gpu you may have to add SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 %command% to the launch options
Can someone help me make it so CEFCodecfix can detect the terminal?
wot?
you just drag and drop it into the terminal lol
oh, make sure to enable it to be able to be executed as an application
Just did it without the Chmod command and it is currently downloading
Gmod is working great
Linux works in weird ways
Honestly this specific case is from the dev having made a native linux build for the game. Which you'd be surprised how many problems that causes vs how many it solves.
I'm not surprised
Valve knows how to make their game compatible with linux flawlessly
Rubat..? Not so sure
Well, a user I helped just yesterday had to append
-vulkan
to Portal 1 to get it to not crash >3>I appended -vulkan to gmod along with this
hold on gpu screen recorder is interfering with my screenshot
there we go

I appended vulkan alongside this to gmod to hopefully make it run better
me dumb ;-;

Not there
I know
In the launch options
lol

Might do that, actually, if the game does have a vulkan session to switch to.
I have no clue if it actually worked or not lmao
but hey
I have a powerful enough gpu and cpu to where it doesn't really matter
Also, how do I install wine-mono to WineZGui
Wine comes pre-packaged with bazzite, don't see why you'd need to download that
question @Xenia Meraki , does running any game with vulkan help performance
Depends slightly, but broadly yes.
alright
It's particularly noticeable on something like the Doom games.
Where OpenGL vs Vulkan in the settings, and people just have using vulkan jump their framerate up by 30%
linux gaming experience

However! The game actually has to HAVE vulkan programmed into it, and for an alternate driver to also be present, for this to matter/be meaningful.
You can broadly skip these jsyk. Then you just compile shaders on the fly, which usually works fine.
oh, huh
I assume it'd work fine on my fucking
ryzen 9 5900x and rtx 3070
lmao
Yeeeep.
never thought I'd have a ryzen 9 processor, it's insane
upgraded from a ryzen 5 5600x
Hi, joined here to say that there's no need to install 2 fixes separately, the fix I created already combines both of them. Cheers
