Bug my friend encountered, or likely incompatibility.
It appears to me that the screen is generating down and to the left of where its supposed to? He's had this issue for a while, and is running the same mod pack as the rest of us. It's possibly just his computer, which would suck, but he's been able to use shaders in the past. We have distant horizons.

Ignore the snipping tool pop-up
Solved? Press F11 a few times to enter/exit full screen and it starts working properly. Once it's working don't press F11 again or you enter the black (or grey).
