brand new install, tons of invalid packages

Trying to resolve an issue I am having I grabbed a fresh sdcard and did a completely new install from scratch. Upon initial start it seems like there is some seriously wrong. Almost every installed package reports as "invalid". Any ideas? As well if I restart the system I'll get klipper errors:
klipper reports: ERROR Option 'serial' in section 'mcu' must be specified Once the underlying issue is corrected, use the "RESTART" command to reload the config and restart the host software. Printer is halted

well this is kind of strange, it almost seems like it's because debian packages are getting installed / updated . I just refreshed the package manager and now some of the packaes are no longer makred as invalid. Im gonna give it a bit tiume to see if it's just maybe the system bootstrapping or something. i don't recall ever noticing before, but I can see the system dowloading a bunch of data so maybe this is still hapepenig
