Distant Generator working very slowly
Hi, was playing on my server (both client and server-side DH) explored a bit further and the chunks randomly stopped loading. This was with DH 2.3.2, I enabled the debug wireframe and world gen queue, but nothing showed up. I reloaded the game with the nightly build of DH 2.3.3 and the chunks seem to be loading, but the game is using far less CPU resources than it should be. I maxed the usage to "I paid for the whole CPU", but it is using only about 50% of my CPU at the moment, and all 16 of the threads are being used the same. The wireframe shows that some chunks are being worked on, but it is incredibly slow. Any fixes?

think i fixed it by upping the server's (not the client's) CPU usage to "Balanced", seems to be loading way better now

World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium, Lithium and C2ME(DH 2.3.0+). These mods can improve generation speed by a bit, but it will still not be fast.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Do you have those mods installed?
Also whats your RAM usage like?
I have Noisium and Lithium but no C2ME, because it causes stutters for me at least. RAM is sitting at 53% of the allocated in-game, isn't being maxed out.
I think the problem is that it isn't using all of my CPU, which is weird because it had no problem doing that about 15 minutes ago.
Without C2me DH probs wont be able to use your CPU to its fullest potential
Wdym it stutters with it?
Thats pretty normal if you're CPU is being maxxed out while generating LODs
I'll try C2ME, but yeah it was already working to it's fullest potential without C2ME until I explored outside of the already rendered chunks
Enabled C2ME, didn't change anything in terms of CPU usage
New issue, caves aren't rendering properly either

turn cave culling off
where is that?
also, it might be a problem with Minecraft in general atm, cause vanilla chunks are also loading quite slowly
in advanced -> graphics iirc
yep, found it
