HELP!!

I am in Australia and when I play on my servers everything works fine no lag, but i like to play on a different account on American servers. I got a new pc yesterday and for the past year I've played in America with an expected 200 ping but it was consistent and really playable. But now it's impossible i lag spike every half a second but specifically only playing on my American account with 0 idea how to fix it!!! I can open Australian account be perfectly fine and swap within 30 seconds and it's lagging so it's 100% not my internet maybe a setting somewhere but HELP!!!

Its your routing to NA servers

do you know of an easy way or just any way really to fix/change that . .

Not really since it’s cross region You could contact your ISP to get you a direct routing but idk if they would :val_PepeShrug: And how do you even play on 200 ping

LOL it's not that easy but I'm used to it but like I don't see why my isp would help since my old pc worked perfectly fine so I'm just rly confused :/ this technology stuff too much for me.

Cause ISP’s change routing due to varying reasons If you were getting higher ping to you own native server cause of routing change, someone from riot could’ve contacted ISP to fix it

i see too confusing.

Valorant doesn’t support cross-region play and isn’t optimised for it, so it’s best to play on your native server

yeah i know thats technically true but i have over a thousand hours of perfectly "fine" 200 ping gameplay where its not spiky or laggy at all yk so there has to be a way to make it happen again have spent like 8 hours trying everything i can think of reinstalled windows my wifi setup is identical to old pc and it wont work very lost ab it

Riot has its own network infrastructure in every region, optimised for that region. However, Valorant isn’t designed to be played cross-region, so as soon as you start playing cross-region, you leave Riot’s optimised network infrastructure (Riotdirect) and use some random network infrastructure that won’t be optimised for gaming. (this is very simplified )

i see. that makes sense then im just a little confused why it would work sometimes and not others with practically the exact same setup yk but if theres literally nothing i can do then sucks

you can try to use a vpn

The route your network traffic takes isn't decided by your setup, but by your ISP e.g. if you're with Optus they take a different route through Asia compared to other ISPs in Aus because of their specific connection to SingTel in Singapore So your ISP likely made some completely unrelated changes somewhere in their infrastructure and it's accidentally affected your routing to NA

right that makes sense to me but then why would there be such a drastic change between setups, if i plug in my old one that worked fine yesterday itll still be working so idk how itd be an isp issue, but if it is means its fixable so idk

You actually plugged in your old one and it worked as it used to?

like it only changed with new hardware i played before i left to pick it up and was back on within 4 hours i rly dont elieve they messed something up that quickly nope guess i should try it but id be incredibly surprised if it still broken

Is it a prebuilt Sometimes they add their own shitty network "optimisation" software onto the machine and it might just struggle with the distance Random hail mary, did you ever enable any QoS settings on your router for your old pc? If your new one doesn't have the same local ip address it wont get the same priority I doubt it tho, that's kinda niche, but might as well look

it is yeah the wifi works pretty good strength wise but id believe they did something funky no idea how id go about that and i dont recall doing anything qos i was def not smart enough when i got my old pc but i guess its possible if its easy to find out whether i did ? well its semi prebuilt i picked parts and they built it and like updated drivers installed windows but who knows what else

Depends on your router how easy it is, it'd be in the web settings page and they have all different names for it, if you don't remember you probably didn't I think mine is just QoS but some call it packet priority or traffic priority or something like that

guess so yeah, it been a solid 6 years so idk, also just tested my old pc right now and it still works fine so its def a new pc issue i think..

We have unfortunately hit the limit of my knowledge, sorry I'd google your motherboard manufacturer and like "network optimisation" and see if they have some garbage software, then check your pc for that and uninstall it Other than that I'm out of ideas
