DirectX 9 game unplayable for running slowly on Mac
My old game launches well and seems to have everything working, but the frame time is like 1 or 2 frames per second and the game is impossible to play. What should I do?

To help you, we need a game log. Please see the following images on how to get it.

Yeah, I have tried that but it doesn't change anything

you prooobably want advertise avx off as well unless the game requires it

Weird, should have been off, thanks for noting though, I try that

I have tried several DX9 games and they run fine others run slow on both intel and Apple silicon Mac that I tested on, just the luck of the draw. I have only found one game that asked for AVX to be turned on and that was a Yakuza spin off game ( Like a Dragon, Pirate Yakuza in Hawall Demo).

it’s been centuries since I even thought of it but

I tried Bioshock 1 on a Apple Silicon Macbook Pro 2021 and a Mac Pro 2013 both using Heroic, it ran on the Macbook Pro M1 at something like 15 frames a second with distorted audio and once I got about 1 minute into the game it crash. The Mac Pro 2013 very similar experience. A game I got free on Amazon prime gaming, Styx: Master of Shadows a direct X 9 game, played fine on both computers. Another free Prime game STAR WARS™ Battlefront™ II (Classic, 2005) also worked fine on both. Were as 1997's Carmageddon did not work on either, but I used an open source port to play the game on my Macbook Pro 2021. It very much depends on the game.
