Clicking 'play' in steam doesn't launch the game?

Hey! I'm trying to launch a game through steam, but I keep coming across an issue. Whenever I hit the 'play' button on the game within steam, it says that it's running for about fifteen seconds, then the button turns back to the green 'play' one and it doesn't open. I don't hear any music or see any screens open up. https://0x0.st/8D4W.log Here's the log for trying to open through steam. I've tried to take the exe file and make it a separate game on Heroic and open that - but it doesn't open anything - and neither does opening the exe through the local files and just trying to launch it that way. I've also tried uninstalling Heroic fully, reinstalling, uninstalling Steam on it, reinstalling, and then playing again, but I'm getting the same thing as before. Here's a log for trying to launch the game through Heroic via the exe file instead of opening steam: https://0x0.st/8D46.log Any help would be appreciated, this is my first time using heroic. Thanks :)
Solution:
I am a little confused you say "the problem is that Steam isn't running," but you describe the issue like steam is running just not launching games. Secondly try changing the setting in setting, like turning off esync or msync or DVXK or on if their off. Or changing Wine from crossover to GPTK and seeing if CS 2 runs. There might not be a setting that will work for every game, so you might need to change setting now and again. There was over with Whisky.app ( now defunked) a setting for CS2 that might still work now, not harm in trying. Hope this helps....

Maybe not a real solution - and I dont have a Mac to test, but on Linux there are some issues with launching steam shortcuts to Heroic games when Heroic is open too Specifically you'll see the play/running shortly and then nothing... But the game launches through Heroic a few seconds later then and does play (but without the steam overlay) I wonder, is the Heroic launcher possibly getting blocked by your steam shortcut due to some Mac shortcut/permissions/policy? Sometimes MacOS likes to offer sneaky small prompts for permission/access before being able to complete an action Another idea - perhaps close Heroic, if it's open, before you try to launch the game? Might do nothing but just figured I'd offer a few suggestions off hand

For me the problem is that Steam isnt running, like i installed it, i clicked play, it said launching, but nothing happened after 15 secs and its showing 'play' again, it simply means it did not start, moreover i monitored my system resource usage, my cpu didnt really spike in clock speed, it remained sub 2.5 GHz, whereas, while running an emulated app, the clock speed goes all the way upto 3.2-3.3 Ghz.. i just wanna play a few games likke Counter Strike etc on mac.. and i am so despo to play it

Thanks so much for all the advice! I'll give all of this a shot right now and see if it ends up working. And sorry about the confusion; the user above you who responded here isn't me. I guess they just thought the issue was similar? Changing the version from the game porting toolkit to wine crossover did the trick, thanks so much!
