Loading 300k chunks for 3,5hrs

Hi, I am new to using mods and I tend to get lost in the terminology. This means I might have missed the answer to my question. I have just installed Minecraft 1.21.7 and the latest version of Distant Horizon and Forge. When I start my world, I get a message that DH will be loading 300k+ chunks for the next 3,5hrs. This seems to be a bit over the top, but I am not sure what setting I am looking for to minimize this to more reasonable numbers. I don't remember my old version of DH doing this massive loading when starting a world.

Does this world already have the LODs generated or not? If yes, as time goes the eta will decrease much faster than it says

1. Set the CPU load to i paid for the whole cpu 2. Install lithium and noisium 3. Wait

You can also try to increase the DH CPU load preset

the radius is in chunks, not blocks

Yeah, obviously I had loaded these with chunky and it took no less than 2 hours

Did you use the same value? Chunky supposedly uses blocks, not chunks, so that would be 16x less than the value in DH.

wouldnt the difference be 16 * 16 so 256 ? since the difference is quadratic not linear

Wdym use the same value? DH started loading these chunks as if they werent loaded before

I'm assuming 16x on a single axis. Even if the actual chunk is generated in the world, DH still has to process it and generate the initial LOD. If you're comparing generation time between DH and Chunky, you need to take into account that the distance values mean vastly different things in each (meaning DH is not just processing what chunky already generated), and that generating chunks is only half the DH process.

ooh i assumed you were talking about how long it takes to generate since thats what everyone was talking about, sry

Hmmm okay that makes sense. So was this caused by the recent DH update or from me removing chunky? Ig i will leave my uh game running overnight to let it all load in
