This is going to sound so stupid but I am not sure I've ever worn a pair of jjeans that actually fit me right
I got the wrangler 31mwz relaxed fit and I love em
I also blow them all out withing like six months because my thighs are too big
not quite as wide as I'd like but much less slim than the 13mwz
Got a pair from Hiut, they make āem in Wales. Theyāre good.
I try to try jeans on in person after a handful of missizings online, regardless of the measurements, because of the difference in stretch/feel of the fabric
Second hand, favorite brand: MarithƩ + FranƧois Girbaud, great quality great cuts I love their stuff so much
Then Diesel is great for flares, bought some new and second hand from all eras, even their newer stuff really holds up. For the price point truly great imo I got perfect stitching on all the ones I have and great denim
Weekday I saw recommended for cheap jeans and while mine have held up pretty well, I find the denim too soft and thin to hold its shape, but not in a nice drapey way either.
Still, with the deals they run all the time theyāre more than fine but I wouldnāt buy anything from them again
Definitely the best bang for your buck jeans I've got are these SauceZhan 34XX 17oz jeans. Built like a tank, but surprisingly comfortable after one wash. Hard to beat for 90 GBP.
Downside, not wearable in summer, way too warm.
Also had a bunch of Edwin, all second hand. The MIJ stuff is great, decent relaxed cuts.
I need some light wash jeans in the rotation at some point.
I'm a big fan of made in USA Levi's 568/569, but they're kind of rare, especially 568s
let me start off by saying i fucking love denim and jeans. id take jeans over just about any other garment.
for me, and this is something iāve only really been able to properly understand recently, there are a few key things I tend to look for, including being at least straight fit, if not bootcut or flared, and ideally mid-to-high rise.
in terms of recommendations iād always suggest wrangler 13mwzās - without a shadow of a doubt the best low cost jean on the market atm imo. vintage wrangler is generally a go-to for me in general (pics 1 and 2) along with Leviās options like the 622 (pic 4). All of these have been bought on ebay, iād recommend searching by cut and then whittling down from there

Your big flared wranglers are so good frfr
thank you, i originally hated them when they turned up as they were a bit too big and way darker than the listing made them look but washed them on a warm cycle and they turned out perfect
And thatās how you get down the big pants rabbit hole š š š
iāve been after more jeans of late so shall be paying close attention to this thread lol
i recomend them for sure
controversial take
oh sorry uhmmm i dont recomend thenm
not a popular policy with the jean wearers
fuck shit shit
mutli-jean wearer because real talk sometimes you need different vibes for different days
- Scott fraser collection: great jean, solid construction, really nice high rise cut, 40s styling, dogshit button
- Levis: get jean for $20 and look good or bad depending
- Abercrombie & fitch: surprisingly good, nice cuts, takes a beating.
ill probably pick up some left field denim soon so if anyone has thoughts there lmk
imo the best "earnest" pair of jeans imo are 505s, with wrangler cowboy cuts close behind. neither too wide nor too baggy, not too low or too high of a rise, the leg has a nice slope down to the opening, they fade well, they aren't overly complicated in design to affect what you can wear them with, and they're all over the place so if you somehow destroy a pair trying to bleach them (let's say) you can have another pair in a day or so
girbauds are GREAT as a baggy jean (i am actively looking for one with a slightly longer inseam for stacks), as are abercrombie loose jeans/curvy fit and levis 560/569
otherwise my hot take is all other mall brand jeans suck and/or are overpriced
MAYBE uniqlo selvedge if you really wanna get into raw denim but if you're doing that you may as well also learn about spending a bunch of time and/or money to find a better pair of jeans since that seems to be part of the culture lol
heavily agree on this. to be fair iād go as far as to say modern leviās border into sucking/overpriced territory
modern european levis 100%
wayy too expensive for the quality imo
a lot of the current cuts arenāt great, weird pocket placing etc. and at least in the UK a new pair of 501s are like Ā£75 minimum
you might haven the coolest vintage wranglers ever ngl
thatās a badge of honour, thank you lol
idk about their made and crafted, made in japan lines or the levis sold in the US (from my understanding american levis is different) but the basic line is poo poo
This was @pacific_north_dressed 's take originally but I'm fully converted to the Sugar Cane 1947's as the base template pair of jeans. Solid rise, leg width, fabric and price. Nothing too creative but it fills that jeans gap perfectly. If i had one pair of pants for all occasions it'd be those.
i mean most european lines of american brands are notably crappier. like stetson EU is just straight up bad
I stand by this take. Especially at the price point if you order from Japan (do not order from a US or Euro stockist, the markup is bonkers).
i am poor but if i weren't i'd get century denim bc it looks so cool
yeah
An exception would probably be carhartt where WIP is its own brand and makes cool stuff
You can get lightly used or even new century denim on proxy for a decent price, my issue with them is that they donāt really make a wide fit in the century denim
Buying century denim was my favourite in person retail experience ever. The guy was young, pink hair and insane and there was a cool af looking older guy laughing at his antics. The older guy used woodblocks to stamp the pocketbags with the date.
Current Favorite jeans:
1) Ooe Yofuketen wide leg: incredible hand feel on the denim, slow faders because theyāre packed full of so much indigo, the story behind the brand is cool, fit is nice with a high riseā-idk if I can recommend this brand because thereās very few stockists and they generally sell out every release within a day
2) Oni Super Wide Straight: have them in the dark secret denim, but basically any denim they come in is good. Fit is also great, but the back pockets are kind of low for some peopleās tastes (I donāt mind it)
3) Freenote Modesto: super high rise, leg is roomy but not crazy wide, acorn back pocket shape is cool, hopefully they continue to make this jean in more variations
4) Braindead 00: front pocket design is super fun, nice high rise, wide leg, also just a fun brand
5) Indigofera Kirk: my first foray into a wide leg jean but the brand has excellent hand feel on their denims. Honestly, pretty much everything they make rips
Ironically, I feel like because they cater to the euro market the jeans run too slim (for my tastes). Their outerwear and most of their collaborations with other brands are really cool though
Sacai and Salomon especially come to mind
I enjoy variants of the 40's 501 fit, as my Tanuki double indigo, SauceZhan rainbow weft, and vintage Sugar Cane are all in similar cuts with a bit lower rise. I recently bought the 3Sixteen rs-100x which is a wide fit but I need to hem it before I can wear it.
Idk if the the regular work pant style jeans for WIP run especially slim, they seem very regular, but Iām also euro so idk
I do buy a lot of pants from them
Offended I wasnāt @ ād for this one :xd:
Not a very deep cut, but I like Levis 578s. They're the only pair of jeans that I wear atm
I do have a pair of 501s ('93 cut) that I wear when I work on cars
Will probably look into other jeans once it starts to get colder again
Faves:
Wrangler Cowboy cut
Indigofera Wyatt and hawk
Mister Freedom outlaw
Sugarcane boot cut
Vintage (new ones suck) Leviās 517s. Orange tabs
Vintage Key apparel jeans
N+F Groovy Guy
Honorable mention to
Tom Ford straight fit
Celine high rise straight
Iron Heart 666s
Old Blue Co
Lee 101 Cowboy fit (buckle back model, specifically)
Triple Aught straight fit for the tactical nerds
iāve been really wanting some leviās 517s
Theyāre literally all a slim straight or tapered fit
Well
They did start doing a baggy double knee recently
But my point stands, the majority of their pants are very 2016 fit
Some of my fave jeans (all from the list above)

Man donāt call my pants 2016 fit š
My current faves are;
1. Oni 242 Super Wide Straight
2. Samurai S3100VX Wide Straight
3. Trophy 1504
4. Honourable mention to new pair of Nigel Cabourn British Military Pants in Green Denim (I don't really think of these as jeans even though they are denim, they don't look or wear like jeans)

I've realised that as I need a pretty roomy thigh measurement in my jeans I ideally want something with at least a 9/9.5" leg opening and some pairs are closer to 10 or 11". I think at this point I've gone through multiple pairs that I liked when I first got them and then sold on when I realised they didn't fit how I liked and I've slowly gone to wider and fuller cuts, and also higher rises
^ the Onis are so good on u
After going through a ton of options Iāve narrowed down my closet to three pairs that i feel cover the spectrum i need right now.
Bronson 15oz heavyweight selvedge
Kapital n9 century denim
Lemaire waxed denim workwear

@Soup @pacific_north_dressed How's the rise on the Oni super wides?
On my 33 waist pair I measure just under 13" front and 17" back rise
both from the crotch seam
thats pretty good, Ive been eyeing them for a while, might need to grab a pair at some point. Thanks!
Im a fan of Brycelandās 133. I picked them up secondhand before they went supernova in price (as all Brycelands seems to be these days.) But Iāve had āem going on 5 years with multiple a week wears. Theyāre really solid.
The Taiga Takahashi Lot 704 jeans have been my favorites since getting them. Pretty faithful reproductions of 1920s Foremost jeans with a really characterful indigo/sulphur dye. I'm especially fond of the classic thick white selvedge edge. Looking forward to seeing how they wear in.

suspender buttons š
got me thinking I need another pair of jeans (I do not need more jeans)
reminds me I can wear suspenders with these cabourn pants... :discourse:
I have a vintage prl set that's half cooked and a massive pair of rrl jeans with suspender buttons I need to make more effort to wear. Love braces, untapped potential there.
Do you know what the thigh measurement is on yours? These fit how I wished my Black Sign Vocalions would fit me
I can measure them later!
Thanks, that'd be great!
Hey im late to this party, I also recommend: Jeans
my current favorites are Orslow- Super Dad and TCB 50's. I'm also working on a pair of kapital normal denim which I picked up for $80. I would never have gone for them at retail price but they are very solid and I'm currently trying to wash/bleach them just for fun. Honorable mention to Century Denim but its just a mid ass fit for me
dang, I really want some samurai's in wide fit, I dig the brand when they do "normalish" jeans aka not the super loud details. I just literally can not justify more denim
i reach for orslow super dads like 5/7 days of the week. love em
otherwise i wear fullcount 0105, kapital momonroe, or vintage levis flares. i forget the model
ok apparently theyre 684s
You just shouldnt buy jeans they are a pain in the ass
wtf digs
Speaking my truth
Bro is trying to keep all the jeans for himself
Life was easier when i thought nothing about jeans and just bought whatever was at pacsun
Now my life is run by jean
true actually
if it was not for jean I would not be here actually
and look at me now, Im back here
despite my better judgment
thatās wild! i prefer the MiMX 569s because the rise tends to be higher
nicest denim iāve ever handled was probably sacai but im also not a denim guy so
about 13.75 on a size 34
might need these tbh
Oops was in a meeting but looks like this was answered
Definitely recommend
Higher as compared to miUSA ones or compared to other Levi's? Because the higher rise is a big part of why I like mine
Thanks! Yeah that's more like what I'd want. The Vocalions are about 1/2"-3/4" smaller in the thigh on the same waist size
interesting! vs miusa! i forgot exactly what it was but i think my MiMX are 1-1 1/2ā higher rise than the MiUSA 569s i found. i know thereās a ton of variability over the years so maybe i just got weirdly unlucky w the MiUSA
Could be. My size 32 568s are like 12.75" and I think my 34 569s are 13"
Not jeans related but I really want that collab Sacai/WIP jacket, its great.
This one? Me too

80s USN Bellbottom Dungarees. The Denim is nothing special, the tiny patch pockets kinda suck, but the cut is exactly what I want. I kind of want to learn how to sew, just to eventually reproduce them once my two pairs wear out.
reproduce with proper pockets ofc.
Personally I think interesting denim is a secondary for me now. When I first started buying "better" jeans I was all about interesting denim like Oni super rough etc. Now it's cut first and interesting denim second
Frankly, to me "interesting denim" almost feels like a negative, because it kinda goes against what I want from denim.
Actually if I don't get this I think I'll die????
I think Iām circling back around to this point as well, although I didnāt go all the way to the oniās. Lately Iāve been chopping up different sizes of older 501s to see what silhouettes I actually like. And generally, non-distinct more uniform denim interests me for what it can provide as a building block.
The reversible one

oh ok this is still p fun
over a grand on resale now though š
