Setup Keyboard and Gamepad input on Bazzite desktop environment (KDE Plasma 6.4.2)
Ways to improve integration of the on-screen keyboard and gamepad functionality in desktop mode?

This is my first time using linux in any significant manner. I find having to use the "Steam Button" + X shortcut for every text field is a little clunky, and I'd like to know if theres a more natural way to integrate it. Gamepad functionality I find is also non-existent, unless I missed some settings. I was hoping to achieve similar functionality to Win11 gamepad integration, such as:
- scrolling through menu options using the joysticks/dpads
-using Gamepad buttons to select items, perform various functions/actions
-Controlling the mouse with the joystick
I'd also like to improve the touch interface. Its a bit challenging to navigate through the menus as my taps are always registered as clicks, so I tend to drag files around rather than scroll through the page.

I don't think windows 11 does that innately unless something is installed to enable it

so you'll have to play around with ur steam input desktop layout to rebind it how u like
that was one of the few things windows supported with gamepad
right trigger for click out of the box was very handy
I mean on ur ally x I'm sure it did but I also think rog is running something in the background to do that
in the case of bazzite u do it through steam input
handheld daemon does stuff in the background too afaik id also look at that
i figured the functionality was there, just didnt know where to start

Just setup steaminputs, mouse works fine now
still no automatic on screen keyboard on text fields
you'll have to wait a bit, on-screen keyboards are hard but i think there will be new ones eventually
as for automatic appearance of them it tends to be more annoying if anything
you can go into steam settings and change a button to open the keyboard for easier access though
Did you ever figure this out? I watched a YouTube tutorial on how to dual boot windows and bazzite and on his the keyboard would just pop up when he clicked a text field like it normally does on windows. Is it a setting I just haven’t found?
No, I still manually bring up the keyboard every time. Do you have a link to the specific tutorial?

On-screen keyboard on text field shouldn't be mandatory, as there are devices with physical keyboards like the GPD devices
a toggle for on screen keyboard on text field would suffice, for devices that dont have hardware keyboards built in
So for devices like legion go, that don’t have built in keyboards there’s no way to have it auto bring up the digital keyboard?
I've been using the steam input on screen keyboard, with the added caveat of having to constantly run steam in the background on desktop mode
