OPEN MW on ROG Ally Z1E around 20fps in game mode but flawless on desktop

The game runs great in the pause menu and in desktop mode but will not go about 20-22 FPS regardless of settings and resolution. Performance is much better in desktop mode. OG Morrowind runs fine in game mode. Not sure what's going on.
