Email routing: Cannot disable

Email routing does not disable. I click disable in the routing settings, and it stays active. I need it off only for a few minutes, because I need the MX records to be disabled for that long. following steps in https://developers.cloudflare.com/email-routing/setup/disable-email-routing/
